Sermon Notes

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future.”
How to Head in the Right Direction:

  1. Stop sabotaging the process.
“When happiness points in one direction while wisdom, truth,
integrity, and common sense point in another, that’s when really
smart people start doing really stupid things.” – Andy Stanley
    Hebrews 12:16 NIV
See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for
a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.
  2. Pursue health.
  3. Set my eyes on the right prize.
    Four Basic Human Needs:
    • Acceptance – Feeling embraced in the deepest part
    • Identity – Knowing who I really am
    • Security – Stable and not fearful of abandonment
    • Purpose – Knowing why I’m alive
    1 John 4:16-17 NLT
We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his
love. GOD IS LOVE, and all who live in love live in God, and God
lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect…
    1 John 4:19 NLT
We love each other because he loved us first.
    1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is
not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not
easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in
evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts,
    always hopes, always perseveres.
    Ephesians 5:25 NIV
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave
    himself up for her…
