Our Father

by Johnson Bowie
Prayer is a gift that God gives to His children. We are invited to meet with the One who pours out His love, goodness, mercy, and much more. In His presence, we are blessed to be able to focus not on what is broken in our lives but on the One who is whole. Tune in to learn more about the beauty of praying to our Father in our series, When You Pray.
Sermon Notes

“When you work you work, when you pray God works!”

-- Hudson Taylor

MATTHEW 6:7-13 NIV

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

7 Aspects of Personal Prayer

  1. Establishing His Presence“Our Father who art in Heaven”
  2. Expanding His Kingdom“Your Kingdom come”
  3. Submitting to His Will“Your Will be done”
  4. Praying in His Blessing“Give us this day our daily bread”
  5. Establishing A Clean Heart“Forgive us as we have forgiven others”
  6. Preparing Yourself to Walk In Love“Lead us not into temptation”
  7. Establishing His Authority - “Deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom!”

Dynamics Of Presence

  • Who you know that person to be
  • Your position and level of relationship with that person
  • How confident you are in the presence of that person
  • How you hope or expect that person to respond

Hallowed: to be set apart, to be reverenced as holy, to be honored and worshipped

PSALM 100 NIV

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and PRAISE HIS NAME. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.

My OBSERVATION of His name will lift the EXPECTATION of my prayers!
