Repentance = Redemption
Repentance: Out of a genuine love for God, we change our negative
behavior.
Redemption is being rescued from the consequence of sin for God’s
great purpose!
Authentic Repentance = Total Redemption!
Repentance is beautiful.
Romans 6:14 NKJ
For sin shall not have dominion over you…
2 Samuel 12:1-7 MSG
…“There were two men in the same city—one rich, the other poor.
The rich man had huge flocks of sheep, herds of cattle. The poor man
had nothing but one little female lamb, which he had bought and
raised. It grew up with him and his children as a member of the
family. It ate off his plate and drank from his cup and slept on his bed.
It was like a daughter to him. One day a traveler dropped in on the
rich man. He was too stingy to take an animal from his own herds or
flocks to make a meal for his visitor, so he took the poor man’s lamb
and prepared a meal to set before his guest.” David exploded in
anger. “As surely as God lives,” he said to Nathan, “the man who did
this ought to be lynched! He must repay for the lamb four times over
for his crime and his stinginess!” “You’re the man!” said Nathan.
Psalm 51:1-12 NIV
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know
my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you
only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are
right in your verdict and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful
at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you
desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that
secret place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me,
and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the
bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and
blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew
a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or
take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
