New Freedom
Colossians 1:13 NLT
For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into
the Kingdom of his dear Son…
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 NLT
So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one
time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently
we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has
become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
Galatians 5:13-14 MSG
It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure
that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do
and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in
love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word
is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself.
1 Peter 5:8 NLT
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like
a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
• Drawing – enticement
• Deception – lies
• Dominion – trapped
• Devoured – possessed
Colossians 3:1-3 NLT
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the
realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right
hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died
to this life, and your real lie is hidden with Christ in God.
Galatians 5:16-18 MSG
My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then
you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. For there is a root of sinful
self-interest in us that is at odds with a free spirit, just as the free spirit is
incompatible with selfishness. These two ways of life are antithetical, so that
you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how
you feel on any given day. Why don’t you choose to be led by the Spirit and
so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence?
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJ
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My
burden is light.”
Romans 6:18 NLT
Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to
righteous living.
Proverbs 4:20-22 MSG
Dear friend, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my
message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those
who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting
with health.
James 1:25 NKJ
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not
a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he
does.
Galatians 2:19-21 MSG
What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head
off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I
could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I
identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with
Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear
righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to
impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but
it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I
am not going to go back on that.
