Living a Life of Generosity

Acts 2:45 NKJ
…and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all,
as anyone had need.
GENEROSITY: getting outside of ourselves
Philippians 2:4 KJV
Look not every man on His own things, but every man ALSO on the
things of others.
Five Components of Generosity:

1. The Revelation of Generosity
   2 Corinthians 9:7 NKJ
   So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of
   necessity; for God loves a CHEERFUL GIVER.
   Matthew 16:17 NKJ
   …for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who
   is in heaven.
   GET OUTSIDE OF OUR PERSPECTIVE.
2. Affection of Generosity
   Colossians 3:2 NKJ
   Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
   GET OUTSIDE OF OUR AMBITIONS.
   Luke 12:21 NKJ
   “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward
   God.”
   Philippians 2:3 NKJ
   Let nothing be done through selfish ambition…
   Matthew 27:57-58 NKJ
   Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from
   Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple
   of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
   Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him.
3. Compassion of Generosity
   2 Corinthians 8:9 NKJ
   For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was
   rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty
   might become rich.
   GET OUTSIDE OF OUR PREJUDICE.
4. Conviction in My Generosity
   Philippians 4:19 NKJ
   And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in
   glory by Christ Jesus.
   GET OUTSIDE OF OUR FEARS (go without) AND GREED (miss
   out).
   Psalm 37:25 NKJ
   I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the
   righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.
5. Reflection of Generosity
   GET OUTSIDE OF OUR WILL.
   Luke 22:42-44
   …saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me;
   nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel
   appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in
   AGONY, He prayed more earnestly. Then His SWEAT became like
   great drops of BLOOD falling down to the ground.
