From Orphans to Heirs
Isaiah 52:7 NIV
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring GOOD NEWS, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
Ephesians 1:3-5 NLT
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to ADOPT us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
The universe is the canvas God created to tell your adoption story.
Galatians 4:4-7 NIV
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive ADOPTION to SONSHIP. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
“The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.”
-CS Lewis
John 1:12-13 NLT
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
“The most important thing about you is that you are a child of God.”
-Dallas Willard
“If you want to judge how well a person understands Christianity, find out how much he makes of being God’s child.”
-JI Packer

How Does Being a Child of God Heal the Orphan in Us?

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.
“How much would it change my life if I got my approval from God BEFORE I walked into the room?”
“Through faith in Jesus, I am a child of God! I am NOT an orphan, NOT an outcast, NOT a reject - I belong in my Father’s house! My Father loves me beyond my wildest dreams, and everything He has, He freely gives me. So, I refuse to strive! I refuse to compete or shrink back! I will no longer work FOR approval – I will work FROM approval. I am pre-approved by God. I walk into every room already accepted by my Father. And because even death itself has no power over me, I will carry God-given confidence everywhere I go! I rebuke the spirit of fear off of my life. I will step boldly into everything my Father has for me from this day forward. The orphan spirit in my life dies today. I reject the spirit of rejection, and I embrace the spirit of acceptance. I am a child of God. I am His favorite one – now and forevermore. Amen!”
