FAQ
What is the criteria to lead a small group?
When we lead, we take on the responsibility of guiding others toward a shared vision, inspiring trust, and fostering a group dynamic where individuals can thrive and grow in discipleship.
Leadership at Victory requires a few initial steps:
- Membership
- Agree with tithing statement
- Background check
- Conversation with a seasoned small group ministry leader or coach about the heart of leadership
- Leader training where we equip you with best practices and tools to lead well
How many times a month do we have to lead?
Facilitating a group is ideally done on a weekly basis. For those who meet less frequently, please connect with your group on your selected channel of communication between Small Group meetings via an agreed media (Slack, Teams, GroupMe, etc.).
How long am I expected to lead?
Although there is no specific length of time to lead, we ask that you keep open and clear communication with your coach if you need to take a break from leadership at any point.
We do ask that you complete at least a full cycle of the small group calendar—Spring (late January-early May) and Fall (mid-August-early December).
How many people can be in a small group?
We recommend 10-14 people because the goal is to responsibly care for the whole group as well as on a 1:1 basis.
I want to be a leader but I don't have my own place. Is there an alternative option?
Absolutely! You can host at a local restaurant or coffee shop (please get permission from the location). You can also ask a member of your group to host as you facilitate.
Can we meet on site at victory?
Victory Church loves to support small groups in a variety of ways; however, due to the vast amount of groups that Victory has to offer, we are not equipped to house small groups onsite.
Where do I get my content from?
As a group leader, you have access to the Leader Toolbox, where you can find the weekly sermon discussion guides as well as other resources. We expect small group leaders/facilitators to continue the conversation from the weekend sermons rather than preparing their own content.
