Fathers, Brothers, & Sons

by Johnson Bowie
The presence of a father makes a difference, and the enemy knows that. That’s why there’s been an all-out attack on men since the very beginning. With abuse, neglect, and abandonment plaguing our generation, there is a fatherlessness epidemic that has left many wounded and discouraged. But there is hope and redemption that Jesus has made available for our dads, sons, brothers, and women, too! Tune in to this Father’s Day message for the answer.
Sermon Notes

Acts 15:36, 16:1-2 NIV
Some time later PAUL said to BARNABAS, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing”... Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named TIMOTHY lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek. The believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him.

Genesis 2:18 NIV
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.”

Relationships that Every Man Needs
1. FATHER – Those who lift you up

1 Corinthians 4:15 NIV
Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many FATHERS, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

Relationships that Every Man Needs
1. FATHER – Those who lift you up
2. BROTHERS – Those who keep you going

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

Acts 16:11 NIV
From Troas we put out to sea...

Relationships that Every Man Needs
1. FATHER – Those who lift you up
2. BROTHERS – Those who keep you going
3. SONS – Those you lift up

- Teach them how to Provide

Acts 15:37-40 NIV
Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord.

2 Timothy 4:2-11 NIV
I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction... keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith... Do your best to come to me quickly... GET MARK and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.
