The Three Harbor Lights of Guidance
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own
understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to
take.”
Harbor Light #1 = THE WORD OF GOD
God’s “Rhema” word for your life (“Rhema” = “personal, alive, & active”)
Psalm 119:130 (NLT)
“The teaching of your Word gives light, so even the simple can understand.”
Psalm 119:133 (NIV)
“Direct my footsteps according to Your Word …”
Luke 10:2 (NKJV)
“Then He said to them, ‘The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few;
therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’”
Deuteronomy 2:3 (KJV)
“Ye have encompassed THIS MOUNTAIN long enough …”
Harbor Light #2 = THE PEACE OF GOD
“An internal calm and inward knowing.”
“A rest … a calm assurance inside … that is not dependent upon
circumstances.”
Colossians 3:15 (AMPC)
“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as UMPIRE
continually) in your hearts (calling in and out the plays) [deciding and settling
with finality all questions that arise in your minds] …”
Colossians 3:15 (AMP)
“Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the
controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise] …”
“A MOVING car is always easier to steer than a PARKED one.”
Harbor Light #3 = CIRCUMSTANCES
Circumstances should be CONFIRMING to God’s guidance … NOT your ONLY
guidance.
• Open and shut doors
• Financial provision
• Direction from trusted biblical authorities
• Counsel from wise, Christ-honoring friends
• Supernatural signs (i.e., prophecy, word of knowledge)
Isaiah 42:16 (KJV)
“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths
that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them,
and crooked things straight …”
Isaiah 22:22 (NLT)
“When He opens doors, no one will be able to close them; when He closes
doors, no one will be able to open them.”
If only ONE or TWO of the “Harbor Lights” line up, it usually means one of two
things: It is either NOT GOD’S WILL or not GOD’S TIMING.
Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own
understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to
take.”
