The Sex Talk

by Johnson Bowie
The enemy is after God’s glory, and he wants to taint anything that was meant to be good—including sex. Because of sin, we live in a culture of people searching for love in all the wrong places. The good news? God is still a redeemer. In this message, discover His plan for intimacy, find healing from the past, and step into the freedom only He can give.

The Sex Talk
1. Sex is GOOD!

Genesis 1:27-28, 31 NIV
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it” …God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Song of Solomon 7:6-9 NLT
Oh, how beautiful you are! How pleasing, my love, how full of delights! You are slender like a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters of fruit. I said, "I will climb the palm tree and take hold of its fruit." May your breasts be like grape clusters, and the fragrance of your breath like apples. May your kisses be as exciting as the best wine, flowing gently over lips and teeth.

We will never understand God’s NO to sex outside of marriage until we understand God’s resounding YES to sex inside marriage!

It IS sin to…
* lust after someone
* fantasize about having sex with someone who’s not your spouse
* cross physical lines outside of marriage

It is NOT sin to…
* be attracted to someone or notice they are good looking
* have a desire to have sex
* anticipate and be excited about having sex in marriage

The Sex Talk
1. Sex is GOOD!
2. Sex is More than Skin on Skin

Genesis 4:1 NKJV
Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain.

YADA // Hebrew // to know, to be known, and to be deeply respected

Three-Dimensional Sex
1. Visual - Image
2. Sensational - Pleasure
3. Emotional-Spiritual - Intimacy

Two-Dimensional Sex
1. Visual - Image
2. Sensational - Pleasure

What we’re hungry for is INTIMACY, but what we’re settling for is INTENSITY.
Sex was never meant to be the SEARCH for something missing.
Sex was meant to be the CELEBRATION of something found.

3. Satan Wants to Use Sex to Ruin Your Life

Romans 6:19 NIV
Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 NIV
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

“Every man who knocks on the door of a brothel is looking for God.”
