Praying in Gods Provision

by Dennis Rouse
Our prayer life shapes our daily lives. God already knows what we need before we ask, but He loves when we place our trust in Him and pray with an expectation that He will provide. God wants us to live abundantly and generously bless others as we abound in Him. When we faithfully position ourselves to receive, we can live in the fullness of what God has for us!
Sermon Notes

JAMES 1:22-25 NIV
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”

MATTHEW 6:9-13 NKJV
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.”

THREE LANDS THAT PEOPLE LIVE IN:

  1. THE LAND OF LACK
  2. THE LAND OF EVEN
  3. THE LAND OF ABUNDANCE

2 CORINTHIANS 9:8 NIV
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

THREE KEYS TO PRAYING IN GOD’S PROVISION:

  1. BE IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE

JOHN 15:7 NKJV
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

BE IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE

A. Following His will over following money

“The world will pay you better so that you won’t make a difference.” --Gerald Brooks

MATTHEW 6:24 NIV
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

BE IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE

  1. Following His will over following money
  2. Work as if the Lord is your Boss

COLOSSIANS 3:23-24 NLT
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord, rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”

BE IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE

  1. Following His will over following money
  2. Work as if the Lord is your Boss
  3. Live by the Principle of First

MALACHI 3:8-12 NIV
“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’

In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.”

THREE KEYS TO PRAYING IN GOD’S PROVISION:

  1. BE IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE
  2. BELIEVE GOD WANTS YOU TO PROSPER

PSALM 35:27 NKJV
“Let them shout for Joy, and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, ‘Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant’.”

THE KEY TO PROSPERING WITH GOD IS HAVING THE RIGHT MOTIVE

DEUTERONOMY 8:18 NKJV
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

JAMES 4:3 NIV
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

THREE KEYS TO PRAYING IN GOD’S PROVISION:

  1. BE IN A POSITION TO RECEIVE
  2. BELIEVE GOD WANTS YOU TO PROSPER
  3. BE SPECIFIC AS YOU PRAY IN YOUR PROVISION

JOHN 15:7 NKJ
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
