Our God Reigns Over My Future

by Curvine Brewington
Throughout the bible, different names describe the character of God. In the book of Jeremiah, he is called the hope of Israel. He doesn’t just want to be the hope of Israel. He wants to be your hope too. Each of us naturally puts our hope in things, and it’s second nature to look to what we can see as a stable place to put our trust in, but God invites us into something far greater: an eternal hope that begins now, not someday. Whether you’re in a season of uncertainty or simply longing for reassurance, tune into this message for fresh perspective and encouragement from the One who reigns over every part of your future.
Sermon Notes

Isaiah 52:7 NIV
"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Our God reigns!'"

Hope is the confident expectation of God's goodness in my future, rooted in His proven character, and activated by my trust in Him.

1. KNOW THE SOURCE OF YOUR HOPE

Romans 15:13 NIV
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

1 Peter 1:3:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

The revelation of Christ is THE hope for a dying world.

2. TRUST THE KEEPER OF YOUR HOPE

Romans 15:13 NIV
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Trust is the bridge between what we believe about God and the hope we actually experience.

Proverbs 13:12
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future!”

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

How you choose to trust God TODAY determines the life that you will live TOMORROW!

Psalm 119:105 NLT
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

A. INDEPENDENCE

Proverbs 14:12 NKJV
"There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”

B. DELAY

Isaiah 40:31 NIV
"but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

C. DISAPPOINTMENT

Psalm 34:18:
"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

1. KNOW THE SOURCE OF YOUR HOPE
2. TRUST THE KEEPER OF YOUR HOPE
3. BECOME A CARRIER OF HOPE

Psalm 107:2 ESV
"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble."

John 9:25 NIV
