I Believe in the Supernatural
Mark 9:14-24 NKJ
And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around
them, and scribes disputing with them. Immediately, when they saw
Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted
Him. And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with
them?” Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I
brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes
him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth,
and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast
it out, but they could not.” He answered him and said, “O faithless
generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with
you? Bring him to Me.” Then they brought him to Him. And when he
saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the
ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father,
“How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From
childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the
water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion
on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things
are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child
cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
THREE PRIMARY REASONS WHY PEOPLE DON’T BELIEVE:
- RELIGIOUS TRADITION
Mark 7:13 NKJ
“…making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which
you have handed down. And many such things you do.” - NATURAL MIND
1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJ
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God,
for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they
are spiritually discerned. - BAD EXAMPLES
1 Corinthians 14:40 NKJ
Let all things be done decently and in order.
HOW TO START OPERATING IN THE SUPERNATURAL:
- EMBRACE THE HOLY SPIRIT
Luke 4:18 NKJ
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to
preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of
sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…”
Acts 1:8 NKJ
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon
you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea
and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - EMBRACE THE SUPERNATURAL COMMISSION
John 14:12 NKJ
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I
do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I
go to My Father.”
Acts 5:14-16 NKJ
And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both
men and women, so that they brought the sick out into the streets
and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter
passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered
from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and
those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all
healed. - EMBRACE THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 NKJ
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are
differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities
of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for
to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the
word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another the working of
miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to
another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of
tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things,
distributing to each one individually as He wills.
