Hungry for More

by Johnson Bowie
We can have a full schedule, a successful career, family and friends…and still feel like something is missing. Our society places a premium on productivity and achievement, but only one thing can truly satisfy the deepest longings of our souls. Lean in for this week’s message as we discover what it means to feast on the only food that can truly satisfy. Sermon Notes

John 4:25-30 NIV
The woman said, “I know that Messiah is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he”... Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him.”

The Model Disciple

  • They follow Christ
  • They change allegiance
  • They find others to tell

John 4:31-34 NIV
Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Ephesians 4:28 NIV
Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something USEFUL with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

“If you want to live FULL, do God’s WORK!”

John 4:35-38 NIV
“Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”

I stand by the door. I neither go too far in, nor stay too far out. The door is the most important door in the world. It is the door through which men walk when they find God. The most important thing that any man can do is to take hold of one of those blind, groping hands and put it on the latch. Men die outside the door, as starving beggars die on cold nights in cruel cities in the dead of winter. Die for want of what is within their grasp. They live on the other side of it - live because they have not found it. Nothing else matters compared to helping them find it, and open it, and walk in, and find Him. So, I stand by the door. I admire the people who go way in. But I wish they would not forget how it was before they got in. Then they would be able to help the people who have not yet even found the door. You can go in too deeply and stay in too long and forget the people outside the door. As for me, I shall take my old, accustomed place, near enough to God to hear Him and know He is there, but not so far from men as not to hear them and remember they are there too. Where? Outside the door - Thousands of them. Millions of them. But - more important for me - One of them, two of them, ten of them. Whose hands I am intended to put on the latch. So, I shall stand by the door and wait for those who seek it. I had rather be a door-keeper. So, I stand by the door.

Maybe you made a decision to follow Jesus today, or maybe you’re curious what life with Him is all about. Wherever you are on your journey, we invite you to share with us so we can help you discover your next step.

It's easy to trust God when the answers to our prayers come quickly. But what happens when we're waiting for Him to move—and nothing seems to be changing? Throughout John, we've seen Jesus perform powerful signs and wonders, from a miracle at a wedding to clearing the temple courts. Yet, one of His greatest miracles may be the one we don't immediately see. This week, we learn what it looks like to have faith in the midst of the waiting, and to trust Him through the tensions of everyday life.   Living Between the Promise and the Proof | Victory Church Pastor Andrew “Mo” Momon Scripture | John 4:43-54 June 14, 2026

We will remember the person who introduced us to Jesus for the rest of our lives. Their faith helps lead us into His presence, where our own is watered, nurtured, and strengthened until it becomes something we can truly call our own. It’s a beautiful process to behold. If we aren’t intentional though we can remain in a season that was only meant to be temporary. In this message, we explore the Father’s heart for our spiritual maturity and what it looks like to seek Him personally and develop a faith that is truly our own.
