John 1:1-5 NIV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Exodus 33:17-23 NIV
And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” Then Moses said, “NOW SHOW ME YOUR GLORY.” And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence... But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.” Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”

Exodus 34:5-8 NIV
Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his Name, the Lord. And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in LOVE and FAITHFULNESS, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped.

John 1:14-18 NIV
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth... Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

John 1:16 NIV
Out of his fullness we have all received GRACE in place of GRACE already given.

Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Romans 6:1-2 NIV
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

“You are more sinful than you ever thought you were. You are more loved than you ever dreamed you could be.”
-Tim Keller

Maybe you made a decision to follow Jesus today, or maybe you’re curious what life with Him is all about. Wherever you are on your journey, we invite you to share with us so we can help you discover your next step.

In the opening verses of John 1, we find one of the most powerful truths in all of Scripture—Jesus isn't just a good teacher or a historical figure. He is life. He is light. He is the Word in the flesh. Fully God and fully man. And wherever He shows up, everything changes. Tune into this message as we explore what it looks like to walk closer to that light, and why it makes all the difference in every area of our lives.

The Gospel of John begins by echoing the first three words of Genesis: "In the beginning." Before heaven and earth were spoken into existence, Jesus co-existed with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The uncreated Creator of the heavens and earth. John wrote this account of the Good News as someone who walked closely with Jesus and knew He was deeply loved by Him. John’s heart for his readers (and for you) is that we would believe in Jesus, deepen our faith, and fall more in love with Him in the process.
