Sermon Notes

Genesis 1:26-28 NKJ
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;
let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and
over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps
on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God
He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them,
and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;
have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over
every living thing that moves on the earth.”
DOMINION: MIMSHAL (Hebrew) – to rule over; supremacy; to have
authority over; to master the control
Genesis 2:18-25 NKJ
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make
him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed
every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam
to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living
creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds
of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a
helper comparable to him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on
Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in
its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into
a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone
of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she
was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were
both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Three Things People Believe About Satan:

  1. Doesn’t exist
  2. Exists but is not important
  3. Exists and must be dealt with
    Genesis 3:1-13 NKJ
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the
Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You
shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the
serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of
the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat
it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” Then the serpent said to the woman,
“You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes
will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when
the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the
eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate.
She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of
them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig
leaves together and made themselves coverings. And they heard the sound
of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and
his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees
of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where
are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid
because I was naked; and I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you
were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that
you should not eat?” Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be
with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” And the Lord God said to the
woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent
    deceived me, and I ate.”

Reasons Why Satan Hates Marriage:

  1. It is sacred to God.
    Matthew 19:1-8 NKJ
Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He
departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.
And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there. The
Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for
a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” And He answered and said to
them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made
them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his
father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one
flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God
has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to Him, “Why then did
Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” He
said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you
to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
  2. It reflects the power of the covenant with God to the world.
  3. It reflects how to love someone unconditionally.
  4. It is the social and spiritual fabric of society.
  5. It is the ideal environment to raise children.
    Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJ
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put
on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles
of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
    Ephesians 6:14-18 NKJ
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the
breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation
of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will
be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet
of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying
always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this
end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…
