Trust Issues

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

HOW DO WE OVERCOME OUR TRUST ISSUES W/ GOD?
1. DEPEND FULLY ON GOD

TRUST -   (בָּטַח - batach)  - "to hide for refuge" 

Proverbs 18:10 NKJV
"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe."

HOW DO WE OVERCOME OUR TRUST ISSUES W/ GOD?
1. DEPEND FULLY ON GOD
2: DOUBT YOUR DEFAULTS

DEFAULTS MINDSETS THAT HAVE TO DIE
A: INDEPENDENCE
                  
Proverbs 14:12
NKJV- "There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death”

You'll never trust God completely until you realize that you need God desperately. 

DEFAULTS MINDSETS THAT HAVE TO DIE
A: INDEPENDENCE
B: DELAY

Proverbs 13:12 NIV
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

And the reason we struggle with trusting God is because we have a hard time waiting on God.

DELAY DOES NOT MEAN DENIAL
• PREPARATION
• PURIFICATION
• PROTECTION 
• PERSPECTIVE

C: DISAPPOINTMENT

• STOP
• REST
• REFLECT
• DELIGHT

The practice of SABBATH is necessary for the cultivation of TRUST.
1. STOP = "TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART…"
2. REST = "LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING…”
3. REFLECT = "IN ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM…"

4. DELIGHT = "HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATH STRAIGHT"
