SOCIALISM vs. CAPITALISM
Socialism:
• At the heart of socialism is the redistribution of wealth
• Government ownership of all means of production
• Requires government to control business and wealth
• Distribution to prevent abuse of capitalism
Millennials’ Definition of Socialism: being together; a social safety
net where government pays for people who can’t pay for themselves;
taxation on the top 1%
Marxism: “Each according to his ability to each according to his
needs.”
Revelation 13:16-18 NKJ
He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to
receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no
one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the
beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has
understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number
of a man: His number is 666.
• Forehead: represents our will and volition
• Hand: represents our activities
FRATERNITY OF MAN vs. FRATERNITY OF GOD
Acts 17:22-26 NKJ
Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of
Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was
passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even
found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.
Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I
proclaim to you: “God, who made the world and everything in it, since
He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with
hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed
anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has
made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of
the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the
boundaries of their dwellings…”
New Mantra: love without God’s laws
Deuteronomy 8:7-18 NKJ
“For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of
brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and
hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and
pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will
eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land
whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your
God for the good land which He has given you. Beware that you do
not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His
judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when
you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and
dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your
silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;
when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who
brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; who
led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery
serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water;
who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; who fed you in the
wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He
might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the
end—then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand
have gained me this wealth.’ And you shall remember the Lord your
God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may
establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this
day.”
Matthew 25:28-30 NKJ
“’Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten
talents. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have
abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will
be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer
darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”
Acts 2:44-45 NKJ
Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,
and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all,
as anyone had need.
Acts 2:46-47 NKJ
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread
from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity
of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the
Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
SIMPLICITY – SINCERITY – SACRIFICE
Matthew 20:25-28 NLT
But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in
this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority
over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever
wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever
wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the
Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his
life as a ransom for many.”
The Servant Culture Church:

  1. People shift from VOLUNTEERING to SERVING.
    • Volunteering is an ACTION. Serving is an ATTITUDE.
    • Volunteers focus on what they GIVE. Servants focus on what
    Jesus GAVE.
    • Volunteers often keep SCORE. Servants make SACRIFICES.
    • Volunteers are TIME sensitive. Servants are NEEDS sensitive.
    • Volunteering makes US look good. Serving makes GOD look
    good.
    • Volunteering is about CONVENIENCE. Serving is about
    COMMITMENT.
    • Volunteering can make people feel SUPERIOR. Servants learn
    HUMILITY.
    • Volunteers are good at ME. Servants are good at WE.
  2. People VALUE OTHERS as much as they VALUE THEMSELVES.
    2 Corinthians 8:12-15 NKJ
For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one
has, and not according to what he does not have. For I do not mean
that others should be eased and you burdened; but by an equality,
that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their
abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality.
As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he
who gathered little had no lack.”
    Philippians 2:2-4 NKJ
…fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of
one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish
ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others
better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own
interests, but also for the interests of others.
  3. People are known for their ACTIONS instead of their WORDS.
    1 John 3:16-18 NLT
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So
we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If
someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister
in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that
    person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other;
let us show the truth by our actions.
