Let Go

Every new year offers us an opportunity to reset. But to start fresh and begin making different choices, we have to ask this question: “What is holding me back?” We have to sit with God and get honest about what has been weighing us down and keeping us from living the full life He has for us. Tune into the first message of the new year as Pastor Dennis shares the three main things we have to let go of to move forward!

Mark 8:34-37 NIV

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “WHOEVER WANTS TO BE MY DISCIPLE must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?”

3 Things to Let Go:

1. Let go of your sins.

Joshua 3:5 NKJV
And Joshua said to the people, “SANCTIFY yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD WILL DO WONDERS AMONG YOU.”

Hebrews 12:1 NKJV
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, AND THE SIN which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…

Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
… looking unto Jesus, the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him ENDURED THE CROSS, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

2. Let go of your past.

Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ JESUS has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but ONE THING I DO, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW CREATION; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

… as far as the east is from the WEST, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

3 Things to Let Go:

3. Let go of your fears.

Isaiah 43:2 NLT
“When you go through deep waters, I WILL BE WITH YOU. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”

Joshua 1:9 NIV
“Have I not commanded you? BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. DO NOT BE AFRAID; DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”


Psalm 91:5-7, 9-11 NIV
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you… If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
