Sermon Notes

Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will
rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government
and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice
from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate
commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
Luke 2:40 NKJ
And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom;
and the grace of God was upon Him.
Psalm 33:11 NKJ
The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all
generations.
James 1:5-8 NLT
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.
He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that
your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided
loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed
by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from
the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and
they are unstable in everything they do.
Isaiah 8:19 NLT
Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who
consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings,
they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ask God for
guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?
James 3:17-18 NLT
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving,
gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and
the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a
harvest of righteousness.

  1. Be in search of Counsel.
    Proverbs 26:12 NKJ
Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a
    fool than for him.
  2. Be selective with Counsel.
    Isaiah 7:15 NKJ
“Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil
    and choose the good.”
    • Knowledge is your ability to attain Truth.
    • Wisdom is your ability to apply the knowledge – Truth.
  3. Be submitted to Counsel.
    Proverbs 1:20 NLT
Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square.
    Colossians 2:3 NLT
In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
  4. Be secure with The Counselor.
    John 5:39 NLT
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal
life. But the Scriptures point to me!”
    John 15:14-15 NLT
“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you
slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are
my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.”
