Victory's History & Vision
|
Twenty years ago, seven people met in a daycare center and began a great adventure. They shared a dream of creating a church that would cut a new road in the south by bridging the gap between the races and following the Acts 2 model of simplicity, sincerity and sacrifice. Since that time, the dream of Victory has become an incredible reality and has unfolded in ways that can only be described as miraculous!
Now, as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, more than 7,500 people representing over 100 nations meet together weekly, setting a new standard of what it means to be “the church” in the changing culture of America. Countless lives have been altered by the gospel and challenged to move beyond being a believer in Christ to becoming a difference-making disciple of Christ.
As Atlanta continues to grow and becomes a world-class city, our hearts continue to be stirred at the realization that we have been brought together for such a time as this.
Our Story – The dream for Victory World Church began in 1987 when Pastor Dennis Rouse received a vision from God for a church that would bridge the cross-cultural gap in Atlanta through cultural (racial) reconciliation. Click here to read the rest of the Victory Story.
Our Vision – Victory was founded in 1990, with a vision based on Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” From this scripture, the Lord showed us four areas of focus: Building Family, Transforming Community, Reconciling Cultures, and Impacting Nations. What We Believe – Victory World Church is a non-denominational church preaching the full gospel of God's Word. Our goal is to represent the love of God in such a way that people identify with Jesus instead of a particular denomination or doctrine. While we believe in teaching the uncompromised Word of God, the character of Victory hinges on two basic principles found in Mark 12:30-31: “and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength” and “you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Click here to read the rest of Victory's Statement of Faith.
